Since we do this every year, if anyone cares to review their past hiking year this is the place to do it.

Not much action on this thread this year. I wasn't going to crunch my numbers but instead of going to the Adirondacks I'm sitting home taking care of a house full of sick people, so what else was I going to do?! 2016 Some issues with staffing at work for a good chunk of the year, so a lot less days off for me. Still managed the exact same number of hikes as 2015, but a lot were half day trips so mileage was down, otherwise it was a pretty good year on the trails for me. Also spent a good chunk of my full days off working on a personal goal of getting to 100 miles in Acadia for the year since it was the parks 100th year. Got a total of 126.1 miles in Acadia this year in 10 trips to the park, and tagged 23 or the 26 peaks along the way. Easily could have bagged all 26 with about one additional total mile of hiking had I realized that before right now. Anyhow, didn't get too deep into the stats but here's what I got... - 63 hikes (29 Maine/27 NH/4 NY/2 MA/1 VT) - 373.3 miles; 33.8% (126.1) in Acadia - 98 different summits - 14 State Parks - 10 52 WAV - 8 4K's (3-NY 2-NH 2-ME 1-VT) Low Point: 0 Feet above sea level. Sandbar to Bar Island in Acadia High Point: Mt. Madison edged out Mt. Marcy by 23 feet (5367 to 5344)

Last year my goal was either a mountain top sunrise or sunset. I got my sunset on Mt Hight. My sunrise, well I had to settle for mountain lake sunrise at 12,000 feet on the Mt Whitney trail. I can live with that. Oh, and I almost forgot, I finished the 48 on Mt Carrigain in April.

Brian, just post more trip reports! Not many people read them, but since I don't keep records either, I had a picture album from each hike, a trip report from 90% of the hikes I went in (that I usually put mileage and elevation gain in) and two days where I pretty much couldn't leave the house taking care of the sick wife and kids. It was pretty easy to put it all together with that happening. Of course it would be much easier to start keeping track of 2017 now, but I probably won't.

I was a tad disappointed in my efforts last year. I really wanted to get in one overnight. My last one was in 2012. The longer I go without doing one, the tougher it will bill to carry that weight. There was also a couple bucket list bushwhacks I was hoping to do but didn't, do to continuing issues with my foot. Figure it was not in my best interest to hike amongst the ankle busters hidden beneath the undergrowth. Other than that, a fair year. About 50 hikes. Mileage unknown Finished the NE67. Mileage, waaayyy tooooo much! Driving Got a few more of the Acadia 26 A couple more trailed bucket list stuff One dislocation. No Breaks.

Crisp, clear, cloudless day and I was stuck at home. So here's another way of reviewing my 2016, in pictures! One from each hike to be more precise.
