Now that 2016 is almost in the books, it's time to start planning 2017's hiking goals. What's on tap for 2017 for you all?
For me:
Chip away at the Winter 48, the New England 50 Finest, and the Northeast 115 Do the "three pack" of state high points- Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Maryland Attend the AMC awards ceremony in April and the U.S. State Highpointers convention in July Log 1 million feet of elevation gain by December 31, 2017 (I'm at 732,140, so I'm about 3/4 of the way there) Winter hike of the Rockpile Return to Acadia National Park Katahdin Knife Edge Finish the Ossipee 10 and the Belknap 12 (exactly 1/2 way through both)
_________________ NH4K: 48/48 (Completed 10/4/2014) NE67: 67/67 (Completed 7/25/2016) NE115: 74/115 NEFF: 31/50 NEHH: 75/100

I think I'll hike a few more NH 48 4Ks. You know, for the fun of it. I think I'll continue to resist the temptation to hike in Maine, or Vermont. I think I'll start to work on my Around The Rim Trail out in Tahoe....seems to be thin coverage from the current forum-ites for THAT particular goal.

We're expecting kids in a few weeks, so my realistic goal is to just get out anywhere. WaPack and Wachusett, here I come.
Ideally, I'd love to spend more time off-trail in the Northern Pemi, and do a winter hike of Camel's Hump.

Congrats and good luck with the baby Jamie. Sure didn't waste any time with that after the Glacier trip. Ask Santa for one of these and the bug netting that goes with it. Once the kid can hold its own head up you can go almost anywhere with them you could go without them. Get them used to it young!

Re: What's on tap for 2017?
Jamie, you said "kids." Is that a typo, or are you having twins? Best wishes for all of you! There was some speculation back in 85 that Prema was not alone . For us, dependent on temps, etc, maybe a couple of the less intimidating 4Ks (so far we've done Tom, Tecumseh, Pierce, and Waumbek). Maybe the Firewarden's up to Hale. Vacations (because you know I can't do these type of things in one day!): Great Gulf fun. Wild River Wilderness explorations. Delaware Water Gap, if I end up in the Poconos visiting my brother (while he's at work, he only ventures into the woods during deer season). Attend the awards night to see folks get their patches (that's Spencer, I think among other people). If i acquire the navigational skills.... Whitewall Mtn (and NOT the crazy way we did it before) and that waterfall over near Galehead. And finally.... PLEASE, LORD, MAY WE FINALLY GET TO SEE THE ALPINE GARDEN IN FULL BLOOM!

Re: What's on tap for 2017?
Yep. Plural. Identical twin girls. That greatly increases my chances of at least one of them enjoying a hike.
Thanks for the well wishes.
