 Pack and North Pack
Hi all,
Watching the slush fall on Saturday, I knew Sunday would be an icy mess if I didn't go way north. Still, the idea of spending half a day in the car didn't appeal to me, so I grabbed my spikes and decided to hit Pack Monadnock and North Pack. Boy was I glad I did - PERFECT conditions. The whole mountain was a block of ice, but topped with 2 inches of powder that I didn't expect. Excellent for microspikes.

The day was gorgeous, and you could see the Presidentials shimmering on the horizon. Temps in the mid 20s. Little wind. I went up the Marion Davies trail, then did the loop trail and Spruce trail at the summit to check out some alternate views, then WaPack for the duration of the trip. The trails were in great shape.

Out of the dozen hikers I passed, 5 or so were wearing blue jeans and no traction. They looked like they were having a horrible time. Then I'd pass someone properly geared with appropriate footwear, and they would always be having as much fun as I. Preparation makes for a better day - no question.

Nothin' on the top but a bucket and a mop,
and an illustrated book about birds.
You see alot up there, but don't be scared:
Who needs actions when you got words?
