The Carter's - Trip Report
Another trip in the books. This trip did not go according to plan, but I had a great time all the same. The mountains often have their own plans for you. Met some great folks at the Carter Notch hut, and got denied on the Wildcats. Read the blog for the whole story!

Welcome to the club of leaving the snowshoes behind early in the season. Me and GG did the same thing this past week. Although it looks like you had a much tougher go at it.

Re: The Carter's - Trip Report
Yeah the section of the AT from Middle to South Carter was a pretty tough bid. some drifts were up to my waist. I was lucky to even finish those mountains that day. Not going to mess around without snowshoes any longer to say the least.

Yep, the snow has built up a little earlier than the last few years. There's some nice snowshoeing to be had in the Whites right now. We used them car-to-car yesterday, but it was a bit cold for this early in the winter season I bet Gen. Patton would have "enjoyed" those big drifts!

Re: The Carter's - Trip Report
I agree. It certainly felt like winter this weekend that's for sure. Great practice runs for when they do count towards the winter list...

Re: The Carter's - Trip Report
What app/device do you use to track your trips? That is something I would like to start doing, but don't know much about it.
Any adivce on what device to use would be appreciated.
I was thinking that having this on a wrist watch would be convienient. Want to avoid doing this on my cell phone to save that battery.
Thanks!

Re: The Carter's - Trip Report
I use my cell phone, but I use the app in airplane mode. The app is called "sports tracker". In airplaneode it does not use much battery. I just turn on the track and put my phone in my bag.
