Finally was able to fit this hike into our schedule on Sunday...of all days. Ended up skipping Galehead as it was sooooooo windy and rainy we just couldn't push it that far. Will come back and get it another day.
Thanks to Bill and Brian for the suggestions to go up North Twin Trail and down to Galehead Hut. Coming down was bad enough in the rain. Going up would have been a killer!

Way to go dj. Too bad about Galehead.....pretty shabby peak to have to come all the way back for  . But hey, now you can just do the same loop over again and hopefully get views from South Twin (I know I will be)  .

Great job DJ!
It is a haul in bad weather and you didn't miss much by skipping Galehead.
If you are going for the 48 list or any of the other list and need Galehead, consider doing a Galehead/Garfield loop.
Up to Galehead to get it out of the way, then over to Garfield and out.
You may need a car spot on the Gale River Road but it's a nice way to get both of those hills.

Thanks for the encouragement...however we've already done Garfield..in the rain and wind as well, so I think it will be a matter of just making the trip back up to tag Galehead; hopefully on a beautiful sunny day! We've now got 35 4000 footers done and hope to complete the list next year. I'm sure I'll be looking for more advice in the future. Glad to know there are some experienced folks out there to share their insight.

Adding Galehead to the Twins is only .8 mile more with a carspot. That haul up to the hut will always be unforgetable. Galehead is a 'killer'!

Hey Chris,
Sorry, but there are a few 3K's that have better views and summits than some of the 4K's
Galehead, Zealand, and South Hancock are a few that a return visit isn't in my plans.
However, I do agree that the ourcrop about 1/4 mile from the summit of Galehead gives a spectacular view into the Pemi.

Yeah, I know. Poor Galehead, never gets any respect. Same for Zealand and South Hancock!
