 Flags on the 48
I haven't done any peaks with The Flags on the 48, so I was hoping to join a group for this years event to check it out.
Then I saw that peaks weren't covered this close to the 11th, so I talked my son into doing Lincoln this weekend for the Memorial.
If anyone can give me some advice on handling and setting up the flag it would be appreciated.
I figure I'd hit Home Depot to get a decent size flag and also some PVC as a pole with some type of lead-line to anchor it. Is this what most people. use? Any other home-made idea's on making it work well?

The best place to look for info on flags and flagpoles is here:

I agree with AlpineZone, there are a lot of good ideas up there.

What we do is use four pieces of aluminum angle iron, each 4 ft long, and connect them using a couple four-inch pieces drilled for bolts and wingnuts. This works well, it's nice and light, and goes up easily. The whole thing is secured with 3/8" nylon rope from Home Depot ($10).
