 Pucknuts is our first Moderator!
Just a quick announcement to let everyone know that Bill (pucknuts61) has become Hike-NH.com's first Moderator! Bill has been a dedicated member of the Forums for several years now and has graciously offered to help me manage the forum, including stemming the flood of spam and offensive postings. Sadly this erases his "rank", but in the next few days I'll create a nice graphic for him so he doesn't feel so bad.

Thanks Bill!!

I feel like Cartman on a big wheel!

Actually I was in touch with Chris because I thought the spam posts were distrcting from the site.
We have dozens of people that don't register and just need some information so they stop here to check it out, and we have dozens of experienced people to help them by sharing information.
The needless posts are just that so Chris and I emailed each other and I volunteered to help in any way I can and to keep the site useful to all.

Peace,
Bill

There are a lot of the same spammers that this site gets over on the Flags site. It certainly takes away from what the site is all about. Too bad there was not a way to reverse engineer spammers. It would serve them right.

You know this is not really a nice thing I did to Bill, right?

Uggh, you are right, I was getting sick of the spam too. The Women's Forum went and they just picked up and moved to the General Topic forum. And you know, a spam thread for something like car insurance or Aunt Edna's apple pie would not be too bad, but why do they ALWAYS have to be pornography, perscription drug, or male enhancement spams!!!!!! :? :? :? :?

And because SilentCal hates SPAM as much as I do, I've added him as a Moderator as well. SC has many years of experience killing off spammers on the Flags on the 48 site, so he will be merciless!

Congrats SC!

and now maybe you can tell me how to delete these darn things. I don't have the mod link at the bottom as Chris and I thought.

I can delete my own posts but no one elses. On Flags, the delete button is a small "x" button that appears next to the "quote" button. This button only appears on my posts and no one elses. I thought the forum's were the same but maybe Chris needs to enable something for us to nuke the spam.

Either that or it's a cruel joke that I can only self-moderate........

I only wish I could've thought of that as a joke, that would've been damn funny! :)

However, now things are all fixed and SC can moderate everyone, even me!
