 Is this thing on?
My last three posts have shown up BLANK. The commonality in each was that I used the URL tags. Starting a thread here to see if something is up with the URL feature.

I'm going to throw in a URL here to see if it works:

My last post used URL within brackets, and it showed up blank.
Now I'm just going to post a link without the mark up, and see if it works:

http://www.vftt.org/forums/showthread.p ... 7-Feb-2009)

Posting a straight URL works.

Posting a link within URL mark-ups posts a blank message.

But if you QUOTE the blank message, the original shows up in the reply.

Seems to be something about the url ...

I think the parentheses are problematic.

If you look carefully at the unbracketed url in your post above, the () part is sort of chopped off and not part of the url.

probably confusing to whatever is processing the url in the phpbb backend ...

I've had that happen to me more than a few times over the last few months when trying to link other sites by pasting their URL. Just figured it was some sort of a spam filter that wouldn't allow bots to post links and mine were getting filtered out by it.

Yea, parentheses in URLs are troublematic. They are technically allowed per the standards, but a lot of link parsers can't/don't handle them properly. I've run into that problem before. Cool that it blanked your whole post though

I don't know what the heck is going on, but I'm trying to post a trip report the same way I ALWAYS do it, and it's just not showing up. "WTF"?!

The problem I'm having seems to be that I can't copy and paste anymore. I used to be able to write the Trip Reports up in Word, then copy and paste. If I try that now, it comes up blank. If I type it up in the forum, including typing in the link, it works.
