Thanks for all the info guys. I know this has nothing to do with hiking, but we all have to be on our computers to be on the board here. So I figured, what better place to find out what to do? THAT was easy...."Hike-NH"! Plus, I thought I'd pass on the news about this, just in case some of you didn't hear about it.

Thanks guys. :D

Anyway. Microsoft released a patch for the exploits today so just use Windows update and solve this issue and wait for the next Armageddon to come and pass.

Ah yes, Lycos. Now that you mention it, I used to use it along with Altavista and yes, Yahoo at times.

Of the current browsers, I like Chrome the best. I got hooked on it a couple of years ago because it seemed much faster (at the time) than Firefox. I then discovered its advanced synch capabilities and use it to keep my bookmarks and others items synced across the PC's I use. And I bought a Chromebook a couple of years ago - an amazing machine with excellent battery life for $200. Chromebook's OS is the Android OS and uses the Chrome browser - there are no other options.

I switched to Linux. And use Firefox. I think I'm okay.

Haha....yeah, I'm sure another "End of the World" virus will be around soon. It's weird how somebody so smart to be able to create a virus and send it out into cyber space, does it to screw people over. Like I first said, "It's a crazy world"!

Looks like they released a patch for XP as well. So much for "no longer supported"

I used to use Ubuntu and Mint. But I was using the wrong tool for the wrong job for me. The lack of worrying about viruses and most malware was appealing however.

Firefox 29 is way faster than 28 and it has sync (as did earlier versions). Chrome has been rumored to phone home to Google more than some users would like.

I'm actually giddy using both. I've had no issues. As long as I have Wine I can still game :-D

The whole Internet Explorer media blitz is a disinformation campaign.

The real reason we're being encouraged to stop using IE is because the combination of IE & Windows is so secure that it is difficult for the NSA to monitor your browsing habits when using it.
