If you're using Windows XP. This vulnerability affects IE versions 6 through 11 and also if you're using Goggle. I just called my web protection personal and they said this is serious but should be fixed within 2 weeks. "It's a crazy world guys"!

Actually, it impacts every OS, not just XP.

XP will NOT be fixed when the patch comes out because its no longer supported.

Chrome is much better anyway.

The only things I've used IE for is downloading chrome and fire fox. As well as using the WMGO. (Doesn't let me chose a custom route in anything but IE)

When I called up about this, they did tell me to use G. Chrome or Fire Fox. I tried G. Chrome but didn't like it, so I stuck with plain old Goggle. I guess I should change.

Just thought I'd pass the word out since it sounds pretty bad.

Ditto on that. Not knowing who wrote the code for WMG Online, i'll be cordial and simply say it could definitely have been put together a little better. Something as responsive as trailsnh would be awesome.

But then again, since I'm not rushing to volunteer my time to the AMC for this effort, I'll shut up.

Just so we're clear - Chrome is a Google product. And it's Google, not Goggle :D. To the best of my knowledge, there's no browser named Goggle, but .... I've been retired from the IT field for awhile, so maybe there is one now!

Kevin, I meant Google. (spelling error) I'm not computer smart, so what am I supposed to do here? Not have Google as my search engine? Un-install it and install Google Chrome?

It's confusing - no doubt about it. The company "Google" makes lots of software products and offers many services. One of the services they offer, in this case free to the public, is an excellent search engine, which is so popular (and deservedly so) it's become part of our lexicon. If we want to search for a bit of information, we say "just Google it". You can use the Google search engine from most (all?) browsers, whether they be Microsoft's IE, Mozilla's Firefox, Google own browser called Chrome, or Apple's Safari. One can set their favorite browser to use "X" for a search engine. Most people choose Google, but other ones include Microsoft's Bing among many others. Years ago (pre-Google search) I used Altavista. There's a more complete listing here - http://www.thesearchenginelist.com/.

Hope this helps -

You can have Google as your search engine on any browser...

+2 :D (FF guy here)

I have done a fair bit of website building here and there. Back when IE 5 and 6 were the major browsers (I didn't do it back before those browsers), I wanted to shoot myself while making standards-compliant websites work on that advertised-as-such-but-not-actually standards compliant browser. It's gotten a lot better in that regard, but is still a terrible browser. There's a reason it is called "Internet Exploder" after all

I seem to recall this conversation in the past. Really odd, as I've used the WMGO in Firefox on several computers with no trouble. Agreed with others that I'd use it a lot more if it was more responsive, but its still a useful tool.

Edit: Oh man, I'd totally forgotten about Altavsita Kevin. I too used it a lot pre-Google, Yahoo to an extent too. Wow, that brings back memories...

OK....so going back to the problem, (the story, 1st post), I have Windows 7, Comcast Outlook for email, and Google to search the internet. I have a deck top, and not dial up or wire less. (I remember dial up too hiking lady...haha). According to the original story, what should I do? Dump Google and install...? Is it my search engine that I should worry about?

Hi Keyz,
What you should do is not use the Internet Explorer browser until Microsoft release the patch, either this Tuesday or next.

Since you have Windows 7, you will get the update that will fix internet explorer.

My personal recommendation is to go here and install Google Chrome:
https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/
