Posting Pics?
Okay. I'm really not very good at this stuff. How the heck do I insert pics into comments? I can only post links to pics right now. I'm sure people are tired of clicking links. Sorry.

Basically you just need to surround a link with these tags:

Click on the link below where some people did this to post pics right in the thread....go to one of the entries where you see pics and click the 'quote' button over to the right. There you will see the format that is used.

You can either just type in those tags I listed above, or you can use the 'Img' button that's right under the subject line when you're making a post. With that button there are two ways to do it. You can click 'Img', enter your link, and then click 'Img' again; or you can enter your link, drag over it with the mouse to highlight it, and then click 'Img' once.

viewtopic.php?t=5848

The only tricky thing is that you need a link that goes directly to the picture, not a link that goes to a list of pictures.

Hmmm...

I told you I wasn't good with this stuff.

Maybe I'll try a different site to store my pics?

Anybody have a tip for those sites like Shutterfly that hides the filenames? Can't view the source of the main frame so I cannot find the filename that way.

I've never used flickr so I'm not positive but I think you should just have to right click the image, click properties and copy the url it shows. Then paste that in between the image thingys...very technical term for them I know. :D Either that or paste the url, highlight it and just hit the hit the "Img" button once.

Unfortunately, Shutterfly has some security in it's pages which do not allow for even a right-click. Oh well. I know I could change hosts, but my wife set this up for me and it has some sentimental value. :)

I signed up for an account there years ago but never used it. Now I just tried it. Glad it has sentimental value to you, always a good thing, but it's not a very good site, well I should say depending on what you're looking for. May be great for small prints, photo books etc, but as you said the links are coded (only one I've ever seen like that actually and I've played with a lot of them) probably so people won't use it as just a host site like I do with Picasa, but also and even worse in my opinion, is the images arent't saved in high definition. They look terrible relative to even Picasa, nevermind the premium sites like smugmug that will save them in original quality.

It is pretty quick to just right click and download a photo from there to your computer and then upload it to Picasa and then you'll have access to both for different purposes. I have a few different sites myself for different reasons, but the quality just isn't there. The first image here is downloaded from shutterfly then uploaded to Picasa. The second is a straight to Picasa version. Big difference IMO, but how much that matters to you is a personal preference I guess.
