 The Tick Key
You may have seen one of these at the check out counter of your favorite hiking store or pet store. It is a metal tab with an opening in the middle that's wide and narrows its' way down to the end. You slip the narrow end and gently pull the tick out. Very easy! I just got one out of Prema's upper arm/shoulder area. Just like that! we got the whole thing out, no nasty disembodied head putting Lord knows what into her blood stream. I'm going to get a few more, one for each pack and one to lose!

And if anyone is going to the Mt. A summit, bring 5! Or steal your dog's frontline! It was beautiful today, but millions of ticks!

I just use a knife. Dig under and pop out. Its nice of them to numb the area for you. I'm not sure how the tick key would work on a nymph.

That's terrible to hear! I guess that viewscaping and a big open brush/grass summit has brought some negative consequences with it. Bummer. Maybe we should suggest they spray the crap out of the area. Guess I'll be looking elsewhere for local stuff with the kiddos this summer.

And we have a key also, but thankfully have never had to use it. Knock on my wood veneered computer desk we've always caught them before they dive in.

Perhaps it's psychological, but I still feel like I'm crawling! Like when people talk about lice, your scalp starts itching!
