 Christmas Day Hike Suggestions
Something under or at 3k, no icy ledges, but a view would be nice. I have spikes! No snowshoes still. Safety is the watch word. I did Jennings Peak last year and while it was beautiful and fun fun fun, the 2x water crossing was not smart smart smart. Any suggestions?
I was eyeballing Stinson or the much smaller and easier Rattlesnake.

Merry Christmas!

Kearsarge North would be a good one if you haven't been already. Pretty moderate hike with nice woods to walk through, no real ledges I can thing of that should be a problem and a great view from the tower on the summit, which you can also go into to get out of any wind and warm up and have lunch or whatever. Seems like it's popular enough you shouldn't need snowshoes either.

Middle Sister using Champney Falls might be another but the trail can be a little icy at times up along the switchbacks. South Moat is another good one that may or may not have ice on the upper ledges. Nothing spikes couldn't handle I'd thing. Roberts and Shaw in the Ossipees. Firescrew, Cardigain, Orange loop. Hedgehog... lots of options but hard to reccomend too many since I don't know where exactly you've been before.

OR....even if you have been, you could go again. There is no rule against hiking a peak more than once.

While that is true, she probably wouldn't need suggestions of peaks she has been to before.

You should give her a few ideas Kathy...oh wait, 3K not 4K, so I guess you're out! :P

Wait. What is this "3K" you speak of?

I know of a few.

There's Sandwich Dome - which but for a few feet could be a 4K.

Then there's Starr King. Crawford. Avalon. Kearsarge (almost 3K). Cardigan.

I get around G-squared. I just hike MORE 4Ks.

Happy Christmas! 8)
