Not that most of you need it, but a little reminder of what it'll be like out there for the next 48 hours or so. Almost identical conditions to this time a year ago when the Matrosova tragedy happened. Stay safe!

Just back from a day up north with Greg and Kris. Unless timetables were off it was BEAUTIFUL up north. We got up to 3200' and it was a bit chilly, but not bad at all. A little breeze, but not much (by the time I got through Concord winds were picking up.) Most of the time up we were actually schwetting our b@!!s off!

Re: Weekend ideas for bone chilling coldness
13 degrees and sunny at the Rocky Branch trailhead at 10am today, temps probably in the single digits with 30mph winds on the summit of Isolation at 1pm. 12 degrees back at the TH at 3pm. Winds had picked up a lot since that morning though. It was a really nice hike in unremarkable conditions. I carried a lot of things I didn't use.

I did see a couple heading up a little before three, and it surprised me a little knowing what the weather forecast is.

Sounds like it was actually a nice day out. Now it's -2 in Exeter and too damn cold to boil water outside for my lobsters, so my house stinks! Going to be pretty brutal out there tomorrow I think.

I was totally sheltered from the west winds until the ridge. Then, I'd say it was only -25. Was able to easily tolerate that for the 40 minutes I was relatively exposed. Another W52WAV in the books. 8)

Note my mitten is horizontal.

I was able to do the "throw a pot of boiling water in the air and turn it into snow" thing this morning. The highlight of the day for sure.

I didn't go out, but the guy who delivered my food on Saturday night was wearing shorts. So how cold could it really have been :?
