I have not brought my dog yet due to the motel that we like does not allow them. We like to stay in Bar Harbor and be within walking/biking distance of all of the resteraunts and stores. I believe that dogs are allowed on the trails but must be leashed and there are certain ones, with signs at the TH, that don't allow dogs. I presume dur to the steep terrain and iron rungs. If you find a dog friendly place close to Bar Harbor let me know as I have an interest.

Ian, I just took a quick look ... maybe some places for you to check out .. or ... check in :)

Thanks scooter. It looks like there are some right near downtown Bar Harbor which is what I would want. Time to start thinking about next summer. :D

When we went, we took the mail boat out to Cranberry isles and walked around. However the best part was the ride in the boat! We also took our mtn bikes and road the carriage rds and that was a lot of fun. Like GG said, travel to the other side of the island where there are fewer people and you get a different perspective of the island. We did all the generic hikes mentioned (cadillac, beehive, dorr, great head) and like all have said no way to go wrong there! Thunder hole a must see. We ate at jordan pond but it was a bit too upscale for my liking. Have fun!

Granite Guy, I think, covered it.

I also think you may have found a new career.

Re: Must see areas in Acadia
Are you going to visit Acadia for 3 days with your family? It's a great idea to be implemented during your break or vacation. Everyone loves to lie on the beach spending careless days: Image
