 bonds?
hey guys,
Im thinking about doing the bonds this tues if the weather is good. It says windy and partly cloudy for mt washington so im guessing it should be ok. Although I have done some several winter hikes and I am prepared for the bitter cold and wind, iv only gone above treeline for very brief trips and I am not equiped with real crampons and an ice axe. The only things I have is snowshoes and those cheep rubber crampons with the coils. Do u think with this equipment its wise to do the bonds? or should I stick to like Carter dome.

Hi Grizz,

I haven't seen too many reports lately as a lot of folks have been staying away from the higher exposed summits due to the temps and wind.

Wildpeaks and I are planning a Bonds via Twins trip on 2/24 if you don't make it next week, please feel free to join us.
Funny thing is they're doing the Dome this Saturday (I can't make it).

If you do make it, please post a trip report, we'd really appreciate it
Bill

Ya, i work weekends now so my time for hiking has been cut short, hence the tues trip. If all gos well and I at least get to the top of bondcliff i'll let u know what the trail conditions are above treeline.

Hey Grizz,
Above treeline has been brutal the last for few weeks.....In short White-out conditions and very, very strong winds.

If the winds would calm down it wouldn’t be so bad.
Did I mention strong winds?

Bondcliff does have a long section that is exposed(between Bondcliff and Mount Bond), so strong winds could stop you from getting to Mount Bond and West Bond if that is your goal.
Have a good trip
:)
