I stopped at the Hancock overlook (above the hairpin turn on the Kancamagus Highway) and looking south, saw a mountain with some very distinct avalanche paths on it's north side. Was this possibly Osceola, or East Osceola?

Never Mind, I found out = it's Tripyramid
I used google to search for the terms 'avalanche' 'slide' + the names of local mountains such as Osceola, Flume Peak, Tripyramid, and found the info. When I first saw the slides from the viewpoint on the highway, I wanted to get closer; explore the slides. Now that I've read about the trail leading up and down the north and south slides, It's not so intriguing.

I believe that's the ridge between Mt. Osceola and West Peak. Those are in fact slides. Some of the slides are alot of fun to hike, such as the Owl's Head slide. :D
