 Sunrise on Moosilauke
Moosilauke at night via Glencliff Trail / Carriage Road
Date of Hike:8/18/2013

Trail Conditions: all in great shape, especially considering the weather this summer and the heavy traffic. Kudos to the DOC!

Special Equipment Required: Headlamp; warm, wind proof clothes

Comments: Left from Glencliff at about 2:30 and got to the summit at about 4:30 for the stunning light show (both natural and man-made!) and a beautiful sunrise (all natural!)

There's a small memorial flag on the summit signpost and I thought it just added to the beauty of the spot and experience.

No sign of Doc Benton.

Sunrise on Moosilauke ... sounds like a good reason to be on the trail early. No pictures?

It was one heck of a sunrise yesterday in the Whites, to be sure. I was driving through Franconia Notch as the fire display in the sky was going on (thin overcast with long cloud lines, looked like orange and red streamers in the sky). Didn't stop for pictures, they're all in my head :D

At least someone got a nice one. It was supposed to be good in the Adirondaks but Sunday morning dawned with a high gray overcast. Got a little better as the day went on and finally cleared as we got below treeline! :?

The overcast never really cleared in the Whites. Saturday was better. But it still wasn't a bad day.

Makes sense since it was just clearing around 5 pm over in NY. Beautiful late afternoon though. Just wish the whole day had been as nice, not that it was terrible. Just kind of washed out and gray.

You have to upload them elsewhere and link them in your post. http://forum.hike-nh.com/viewtopic.php?t=5895 will give a few tips. Like I said, the key is to upload elsewhere, i.e. Picasa or whatever photo sharing site you prefer, and then get a link to the photo and stick it between img tags.

 Photos,,, maybe
I may have forgotten to mention: I'm a lousy photographer, too. My wife is a professional photographer and videographer, but way too smart to be climbing mountains in the middle of the night so this is the best. Can do. Hope it works!

Some wonderful pictures. They have inspired me to attempt some sun rises as well. Thank you very much!

WOW! Great pics. As awesome as the colors are in the 4th and 5th, I really like the 6th with the purples, blues and that green in the foreground. You must have gained some talent through osmosis.
