TRIP REPORT: Mt. Tecumseh - July 26, 2006
TRIP REPORT: Mt. Tecumseh - July 26, 2006

Via Mt. Tecumseh trail starting at Waterville Valley Ski Area. (Watch out for the local speed traps on NH 49 . . . )

Weather called for scattered T-Storms. We hit the trail at 1:30 PM and reached the summit just before 3:30 PM. Saw a half dozen or so hikers on the way up, none on the way down.

Views from the summit were terrific, except for some scattered trash (which we packed out).

We took a detour on the Sosman Trail to the top of the ski area, but the rolling thunder started to chase us. We zipped back to the trail and reached truck in less than on hour. It started to downpour 5 minutes after we got to the car.

Trail conditions were a bit wet, but not too muddy, brook crossings were fair, water was running. No blow downs.

A great afternoon hike. My 11th 4K, the wife’s first. Did the Osceola Peaks the next day, trip report to be forth coming.

Thanks to all on the site that provided some good recommendations in advance of the trip.

Great time!

I do like the views going along the Sosman and there are a couple of nice spots to stop for lunch.
Glad you missed the rain though!

Bill

I would like to get back to Sosman to check out the top of the ski area, maybe next time.

Have a few more 4K's to do first . . .
