Hey Birdman,

I did Blueberry Ledge with my dog last fall. There were many, many spots where I had to pick him up onto my shoulder like a sack of grain - and place him on the next ledge. I also had to push his butt up some one or two of the slicker ledges where he couldn't get much grip. Kelly has photos of one in her post (facebook links).

My dog weighed about 45 lbs at the time. Not too much weight to lift, but tiring due the number of times we had to go through the exercise.

Also that day, another couple with a 100 lb dog turned around and gave up as he was too heavy to lift to shoulder height.

Your call depending on the agility of your dog and its weight. My dog is a mut with border collie and golden retreiver. Somewhat agile, but not as sure of himself as he could be.

Good lick!

I hiked this trail last Columbus Day weekend with my dog and am going there this weekend as well with a friend and his dog. I had to lift her twice last year. On the second ledge and then up a tall step. She weighed about 45 lbs then. It should be no problem if you dog is comfortable with being "boosted" when necessary. Having another person to help is good. Rain could complicate things.
