 Hiking Mt Jackson 11-5
We are planning to hike Mt Jackson on Saturday. Anyone been in this area recently? Just wondering about the weather/snow conditions.

I don't have your answer, but I was actually considering climbing Jackson next weekend, but I was concerned with the steepness, as I won't be using snowshoes, or crampons, and I haven't climbed Jackson yet.

Jackson isn't all that steep. Check the Trip Report for a good idea of the terrain. Not sure about the current trail condition, but from what I hear, every 4,000 footer has some snow on it at this point.

We had considered Jackson on Saturday too. Hearing that there's snow almost to base now. With the 5" they got in the area last night, I imagine that it's all snow now. Not sure if it's broken yet though.
Bustng out the crampons and snow shoes and we're going to shoot for Lafayette on Sunday instead.
Good luck and have fun...it's winter!
Bill

Expect about 8-10" of snow at about 3,500 and 12-14" at about 4000' elevation, if no more falls. Very brisk winds these past 2 days.

Cruise well and enjoy!
