 Mt. Willey?
Anyone done Mt. Willey this year? Looking to hit that baby but don't want to glomp through too much snow and mud.

Planning that same hike for later this summer. Can you post the conditions if you went? I'd like to know how tough it is.

 Re: Mt. Willey?
Because mount Willey is so close to the AMC Highland center it is a popular hike combined with Field, Tom, and Avalon. Even this time of year. I would not recommend going up the Willey trail this time of year. I last did this hike at the end of December so my pictures are old, but check out more recent reports at http://trailsnh.com/lists/New-Hampshire-4000-Footers.php
If you are new to 4ks in the winter than this is an excellent start.

FWIW, the southern end of the Willey Range Tr was broken out when we climbed it Presidents Dat 2011. Keep checking TRs to see if it has been broken out. You'll want some aggressive snowshoes though. It's steep.

I doubt the original poster is checking this thread anymore, since he asked the question in 2004.
