4K footers with little ice now?
Hi All, besides Waumbek, I am unable to find any trip reports from trails that have minimal ice. I have microspikes but would like to take my dog and want her to be able to safely navigate around the ice.

Any suggestions? Thank you!

Have you tried checking NewEnglandTripReports.com?

Or TrailsNH.com and select NH4K list?

Old Bridle Path to Lafayette was pretty darned close on Saturday (only some ice on the last ~1/10-mile to the hut, then a few small stretches before treeline), though reports were Falling Waters was sketchy (folks without spikes though, mind you)... Osseo to Flume was 100% ice-free.

Granted it snowed ~4" up there Sat night/Sunday, but that ought to be short-lived.

Since it sounds like the main worry is regarding your dog, I would say anything that doesn't have overly steep North-facing inclines in the woods should be fine, though only you know your dog. Most South-facing stuff is pretty well cleared out at this point.

Just avoid the Wildcats/Carters. There's still a lot of ice in there in a few places I hear. Except Moriah via Stoney Brook, that is/ought to be pretty good by now, there was only minimal ice 4 weeks ago.

And definitely check out the sites Kathy mentioned. Though she goofed on the first one, it is http://newenglandtrailconditions.com/. They generally mention any significant ice (especially NewEnglandTrailsConditions) this time of the year.

We understand Kathy, probably most of us were up late a little bit loopy looking for the thread with HL's lust.

Don't worry, Kathy. Someone else on newenglandtrailconditions recommended she look up HikeNH, so she was on there already.

Nicole, glad you could join us. There are some good folks here who get out a lot!
