 Long Pond Road
I was hoping to hike the Tunnel Brook Trail from the southern trailhead via Long Pond Road this upcoming weekend.

I read that the road is closed in the winters and I noticed that there hasn't been an update since December.

Does anyone know if this road is open yet?

They update the site pretty regularly once the roads start opening. I wouldn't expect it to be open anytime soon. Most roads don't start opening until May.

Is parking on High Street available? Parking at the intersection would only add .9 miles

This was 3/16/13 and I'm pretty sure I was completely off the road (High Street). That, and it was legal to park there. i.e. no, no-parking signs.

Edit: Just looked at my report on the hike I did.

In the first paragraph I commented about Long Pond Rd. So if you find it as I did, don't know what to tell you. I never found out if the status says closed but the gate is open if you can legally drive it.

Echoing what Joe said, I approached Mt. Clough from the Tunnel Brook Trail in April 2014. The gate was closed so our group parked on the side of High Street (completely off the road). I do remember a small parking area next to the gate if the road is driveable. The road walk on Long Pond Road is pretty short, only a quarter mile or so.

It is an active logging road so I am not sure of the legality of driving on it and/or getting stuck.

Parking at the intersection will do just fine. I got a buddy coming up and he wants to do an overnight somewhere Sunday to Monday with options being Mount Martha, Mud Pond, Liberty Springs and Bondcliff.
I don't think he realizes that the trails to his higher goals are sheets of ice, something I don't want to do with overnight bags on us

It's way late, but for future readers, the Glencliff parking lot is maybe 1/2-mile from the Tunnel Brook Trailhead. You can do some fun loops over Moosilauke using the Tunnel Brook Trail ;) Tunnel Brook Trail is awesome, though a little obscure in a couple spots in the middle. I greatly enjoyed it last summer.
