2015 Favorite Pictures From The Trails
For those of you with time on your hands feel free to get the ball rolling here. This is always a favorite thread of mine, both to see everyone else's favorites and to go back through my year and take a second look since it all blends together after a while.

Re: 2015 Favorite Pictures From The Trails
I just started hiking this year. I don't know why I never got into it, but as I'm getting older (35 now), I needed to do something to keep active. My main hobby is playing poker, but as I've gotten better at it, my heart rate doesn't get elevated like it used to. So this year I sort of accidentally discovered that trails are better than treadmills, and here I am.

So 2015 was a big year of "firsts" for me.

First mountain hike - Mt Monadnock

Image

Monadnock was also the site of my first non-solo hike. I thought my partner was gonna quit on me after the summit, but she made it

Image

Two became three as my oldest joined the fun on pack monadnock. Here we are taking our first rest break

Image

The craze swept through the family

Image

After doing Monadnock and Pack Monadnock a bunch of times, I enlisted google to help me find other hikes. At the end of Sept 2015 I discovered that "The 4000 footers" was a thing....

Here's my first 4k attempt. Sept 26 on Tecumseh. If all the trails are like this....completing the list should be easy.

Image

Apparently, they're not all that easy, as I learned on my first trek up a section of the AT

Image

It was worth the effort as I was rewarded with my first trip above treeline

Image
Image

As I continued my 4k quest...

I got my first look at Franconia Ridge

Image

My first look at the presidentials

Image

My first time hiking in snow

Image

My first time using foot traction

Image

In total I bagged 8 of the NH 48. Tecumseh, Moosilauke, Cannon, Both osceolas, jackson, pierce, and eisenhower. I plan on suspending my quest and hiking some smaller, easier peaks over the next few months to 1) acclimate myself to winter hiking and 2) scope out some easy hikes to bring the kids next summer.

You'll definitely see me posting in 2016

This one from 12/08. I don't take many pictures anymore and my phone camera is just terrible, but some things came together here.

BrianL. That second picture there of your hiking partner is too cute for words. I remember bringing my nephew up Pierce and he was so dog dead tired he could have fallen asleep on the trek down. He fell asleep the second the heat started coming on in my car.

Have gone through only a few files, but here's some...not all from the trail, but all from the mountains

My favorite campsite
Image

Anything tastes good after a long hike, but this was part of an especially memorable dinner. Simple, but fantastic.
Image

Looking south over Lonesome Lake
Image

The Pemi, love that river
Image

Could have been anywhere, but this was on KRT on Cannon on a very cold February morning
Image

Shows the wild-ness of the wilderness, from Crawford's summit, on an equally cold morning
Image

I'm sure this has a name, other than simply ice floes in Crawford Notch
Image

Not the best picture, but as much as I love winter, the sight if trilliums in spring and early summer make me smile
Image

I call this "birch bark" :)
Image

Setting up for flags 2015 atop Garfield, me, Gillian and the Doctor
Image

The Flags 2015 crew. Couldn't have done it without them.
Image

Can't let any collection of faves go without at least one silky water shot

Brian, love that photo of your pooped out partner. And, for once, without any descriptors I recognized the hikes you were on in all the pics. HA HA. This should have been a quiz entry....I coulda been a contenda. 8)

I cannot tell you exactly why, but I really like this picture. Perhaps the symmetry, perhaps the feel it conveys. IDK, but I like it.

Of all the pics I have seen of these little thieving bandits, this one is the most proportionate.

Just as the Whites are my favorite place, Lake Umbagog is my husband's favorite place. Nice shot!

Funny. It's a great shot, but I hate the feeling this picture conveys. My feet feel like they have fifty pound weights strapped to them just looking at it.
