 LOST - black diamond poles
At Hale Brook Trailhead today.

I didn't lose them but noticed a post on NETC and am just trying to help out a fellow hiker.

No contact info there, but hopefully will be in case somebody picked 'em up

And if you happen to be the person who took the Black Diamond poles from Mt Adams Gulfside Trail on Oct 10th we'd love to hear from you. We left them behind figuring we'd get them on the way back since they were useless considering the conditions but az you know they were gone when we got back.

If they were as useless and trashed as you say maybe someone just thought they were cleaning up discarded junk??

No I didn't say trashed. Useless because of the conditions. Too much wind which required the use of all limbs. They were carefully plced. Stupid of us not to take the time to secure to our pack. However we have left our packs/ camp gear many times only to retrieve later with no problems.

Re: LOST - black diamond poles
Got it. I read useless as the poles themselves were in bad/useless condition.

I also often drop gear to grab on the way back, especially when backpacking. I have taken stuff found on trails back and left it at trailheads before but I guess if they were on Gulfside it could be hard to pick the right trailhead out of the dozen or so choices. Hopefully it was an innocent mistake and they brought them to the wrong place trying to do a good deed. Taking someone's gear is definitely a dink move. I think even playing finders keepers sucks. I've lost some good and expensive gear by dropping it, some even had my name, address and phone number on it. More still would have been easy enough to turn in at the park office I lost it at.
