Lal is right GG! Excellent shots. I live in a valley, so the fog messed it up for me. :(

Everyone who wants to has probably seen pics already but here's what I could get. Crystal clear night for a great show. Unfortunately with a DSLR to get much better close ups you have to spend thousands of dollars on lenses or sky tracking equipment, and my wife would kill me if I did that! :D Anyhow, didn't go any farther than the driveway. Maybe in 2033 I'll be free that night and head for the hills. For now...

Great shots. Could not force myself to go out last night and Becky was relentless in her effort to get me to do so. Just had the knee surgery Thursday so getting around is still very painful. :(

Joe, did you get a knee replacement? I've been holding off on one until those Synvisc shots don't work anymore. Feel better buddy!

Real Ale finally completed it's journey from the brewery to it's final resting place huh?! :D Western NY though, that means you have to come home relatively close to the Catskills no? Wait, I have a suggestion for you!!

Bummer. Hope it heals fast and better than ever, whatever kind of surgery you had. Been a rough summer for you. Hope you don't need anything else done until at least the next eclipse of a Supermoon.

Yep, and into the bellies :) I-90 all the way to/from. So not all that close to either the Cats or the Daks, but closer than I live I guess. Someday when I have more time during one of those trips perhaps. I had thought of visiting Greylock since that's only a 1-hour detour each way + hike time, but didn't even have time to pull that off on this trip. Back to work tomorrow :(

The Kanc was the place to be!

Prema and I went to Mt. Pierce during the day, we redlined a section of the Crawford path we had missed before due to taking the Mizpah cut-off. I knew going to Evens would be too long a day. We also tried for Crawford Cliff, but it was just after sunset. Had a pizza at GH in Lincoln where we could see the very beginning fro their window. Then we went to the first overlook after the Hancock parking lot. Plenty of company! There was even someone sitting on the side of the road on a laptop! We parked in such a way I could watch it in the car. Caught a lot of tiny snoozes in between, so the ride home was not too bad. So we saw a good portion of it. I will let GG's pictures tell the rest of the story.

So we've seen this and sometimes the meteor showers. All that's left now is the Northern Lights! Good luck on THAT!
