Seems silly to me. Yay another 1/4 mile zone where you can't do anything without spending $$ The highland center is right there along with mizpah. The reasoning is obvious since it isn't convenience.

Edit: upon further review. What's up with the cut off path? It seems rather superfluous. Too many people red lining the WMG?

I agree. What is more is the location of it just screams rather blatantly they are trying to attract more money from the kind of people who can barely even make it to Zealand Hut, let alone any of the others. And the Huts serve only a minuscule purpose to AT thru-hikers, so this does nothing on that end.

I get that New Hampshire relies heavily on the tourist dollar....but I am getting a bit tired of selling off pristine acreage all to make a quick buck.

This sucks.
It's right between Zealand and Mizpah, and within spitting distance of the Ethan Pond campsite. If you want to live it up in Crawford Notch, stay at the friggin' highland center.

I stopped my AMC membership this year. It's just all about the Boston money.

Some are arguing elsewhere that "the Highland Center isn't a hut". Meh. I don't feel the need for another hut, especially in this location.

I guess I don't really care one way or another. Just seems odd to me.

Heh, I couldn't imagine any "elsewhere" that people might be prone to arguing?

Yeah. It even went so far as the admin of the group deleting comments that weren't directly addressing the issue.

Stupid, no need for one there, probably just a way to make money. I hope it doesn't go through. Already have mizpah.

I don't see the point but I guess it's better there than Kinsman Notch, Kilkenny Ridge Tr, or south of the Kanc.
