Sorry also Mike. Don't you hate when real life gets in the way of hiking?! Hope it's nothing serious. Next year we will probably try for Isolation. Keep the date clear!

Nope. No Lincoln Woods Trail, remember? ;)

Sorry you'll miss the fun Mike.

Next year Sept. 11 falls on a Sunday, so FOT48 will be that day instead of Saturday!

I'm but one lone voice in the woods. And we said no Pemi peaks either so...

But you can get to Owls Head without Lincoln Woods easily enough. Next time I go I'd like to descend Lincoln Slide and get there that way, although strangely, I enjoyed the hike to Owls Head using the trails. Had a nice wild feel to it, as opposed to the train tracks...I mean Lincoln Woods. :D

Your Saturday workers will get to go next year :D :D :D . I think Chuck and Cheryl will be able to go then, too!

It's a long thread. Let's make it longer!

FOT48 is in 3 days! As of the last info I could find reading through this post:
Attendees:
Granite Guy
Grindboy
Hiker0200
Iquest (+ Marlie)
Krpayer
Madmattd
Thegibba

With possible guest appearances by some others that likely won't come

The route: Out-and-back from Zealand Road. Boots on trail 6 or 6:30?

Post-hike food: Likely to be at Black Mountain Burger in Lincoln whenever we get back down there. Probably after 8PM :(

I'm going to need to drive up Friday night (I think I win the "longest drive" award on this group by a decent margin, theGibba might be close though). Gibba, were you still planning to head up Friday (Thursday?) too and grab a spot on Haystack/Gale River Road? If so I can meet you there, but I won't be getting there until 9:30 or so since, well, Friday afternoon MA traffic.

I know of at least 2 people planning to come by and say hey on W. Bond. Surprise guests

Thanks for the thread bump, Matt!

Never been to Black Mtn. Burger. Then again, anything will taste good after a 17 mile hike!

Can't wait to see you all again and hoist that flag!

As for commute times: I think Ian wins the "shortest drive" award  . I come in at a close second, since I'm coming from Auburn, NH. 2 hours 11 minutes by the book.

 Re: FOT48 2015: Heads-up
I finally remembered to look back at my Zealand-Bonds track from last fall. It took us almost exactly 5 hours to get from the Zealand TH to West Bond, and that included nearly 30 minutes at the hut and Zealand Falls along the way in. We weren't moving at any kind of crazy pace, just a good steady one.

I think we would be fine starting at 6:30 instead of 6:00, so unless others feel differently, let's shoot for boots on trail at 6:30?

Also, rope! Bring rope, paracord, whatever if you can everyone! I have 50' of paracord and some other smaller stuff that can work in a pinch, but I know some of you all have brought some line in prior years too.

 Re: FOT48 2015: Heads-up
For any/all coming up 16, I'm happy to meet up/drive/whatever from Rochester area. I have a Mazda 3 that seats 1 passenger very comfortably and 2 more if a back seat isn't minded. Reply or PM or whatever.

Weather's looking good at the moment! Looked terrible a couple days ago, but I'm sure we all knew not to trust it then. . . or probably not even quite yet.

2:20 minutes for me from doorstep to trail head if I go I-93 vs 2:40 on rt 16. I'd do the 16 carpool but if the weather is good I'll be staying over and hiking Sunday hopefully.

6:30 it is. I'll bring some rope. If it rains we can string Spencer up.

I am going to go up tomorrow and pitch a tent. Why not? I'll get a small hike out of it and see the Pats game. I'll let you know what site I grab Matt.

Sadly Sunday's weather is looking like something between blah and crap right now. But I'll take it if Saturday is nice (so far looks decent, but we're still T-48 hours!). Might have to cancel my Sunday hike though.

I guess I drive fast because it usually only takes me 2 hours from Nashua (google maps says 2 hours 11 min). 6:30 works for me, I'll take the extra half hour of sleep. Black Mountain Burger sounds awesome. Fingers crossed that the forecast holds out... after 4 years of blah weather I think we're due.

Wow, I'm actually the only one going up 16 on Saturday morning? All right, I'll see you all at the trailhead (or wherever there's enough light to see you).
