Wrote up this tr the other day - guess it didn't post. Hmmmmm....

Saturday, 9/15/18. Cannon via Hi-Cannon to KRT then back down. Had the trail to myself for 95% of the day. Saw about 20 others on the trail, all but 3 while headed down. There were about a dozen at the tower b/c they walked over from the tram, but I was early enough to avoid the masses. And, by hiking on the Cannon side of the notchway, I avoided the madhouse that was the Franconia Ridge.

I like your "green stars!" Seems like a nicer route than the "trench" known as Kinsman, although that has its good points. Prema had me spend Mothers day this year on the monorail there.

Hi Beckie. Yeah, KRT is pretty dredged out these days - though I was surprised and dismayed to see the unmitigated erosion on this route as well. Folks don't help by going around and creating more erosion.

The "stars" were pretty cool.

Saw you did Osceola. I haven't been there since the upgrades. I've been both ways, and agree the route from the Kanc across that slab is a teensy tiny bit sketchy. Thought of skiing Tripoli, but that's a long approach just to get to the start.

Do that, and then the next day or so I'll snowshoe my lazya## up there  ! All kidding aside, I wish Tripoli was open to that trailhead in the winter.

You should check it out. The parking lot is nice, great new outhouse, and a picnic table. The trail seemed easier than it did 14 years ago, but I wonder if that's because I've done a lot since then. We checked out a herd path which I think leads to one of the Trailwrights peaks. We only did a little of that one since I had to get home to watch my granddaughters.

I haven't been around in a long time, but dropped in randomly yesterday and was surprised and sorry to see how quiet it is here these days.

Anyway, I know it's several months past, but I just saw this report and wanted to say you took some beautiful photos! I had no idea there was a long bog bridge on the shore of the lake. Everytime I've been there or overlooking it on Cannon, it was all covered in snow and ice. haha

Thank you. Those pics were taken with a little point and shoot. LOVE that little thing!

The bog bridges around LL are my go-to approach. I've got a thing for bog bridges. Aside from the obvious functionality - I find it weird that I love them so....I hike for hours - miles of meandering away from civilization and all its trappings and get so giddy when I come upon the bridges. Weird!

Anyway....I too am dismayed that this is not as active these days. Perhaps with the mess the social media sites have created will cause more of us to stop by here more often. I do have to say the ease of posting pics on the FB site is exponentially less cumbersome than the process to get them on here. First world problems.....
