This trip report brought to you by the letters N (for November) and S (for solo, solitude, spikes, sunshine)

The day dawned chilly, and though there were a few cars in the lot this time when I arrived, I basically had the hike to myself.

Just me and the sunlight, and the flowing water.

Well, there was the guy that came up upon me as I was at about 2500 feet. Oh. He didn't startle me. No chance of that. I could hear Jingle Jangle Jeffrey all the way up, with every move he made. He had a bear bell on his pack that moved and clanged with every move he made. Every step. Every time he swung his pack off and on to adjust layers, get a snack, etc. I took a super long break after leap frogging with him a few times and let him pass and get a sizeable lead. Problem solved.

I put the spikes on sooner than I had just a few days earlier b/c the runoff made for some tricky footing. It's a stream. It's a trail. It's a stream trail.

Hit the flats - and the views. Unlike the previous hike, the views were a tad farther than ten feet.

Image

Also unlike the previous hike,

the weather was abnormally un-seasonal

I enjoyed my lunch with a north facing venue

And a south facing one

The zoomed-in Northeast vista wasn't too shabby either

All in all a stellar day. In stellar woods. With stellar views.

Nice to see you've broken your vow of silence. :) Love the frosty leaves. But damn, it's too soon for that white and or, shinny stuff. :(

HA HA. I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!! The way I'm looking at the early onset of the white stuff is that we desperately need water so if its this late in the year I'll take the snow over the rain. Any day.
