Quick hike up Jackson. Friends were hiking Washington for their first time and invited me along. Sigh. I had to be at work at 4:30
and not certain of their speed I turned them down. They had record highs on Friday, 57 degrees. W-H-A-T??? In October??

I made quick work of Jackson. Even slept in. Solo hike so had the place to myself for a bit. Cool undercast that my little POS PNS didn't really do justice to.
But that's ok. I saw it. More motivation for me to get my butt over to Hunt's and pick up a new DSLR.

In the meantime though, here's what I got:

A new DSLR? What happened to your "old" one? Can't wait to get out tomorrow. I'm missing something much from the throat infection I got.

My old one is an Olympus E400 or so. Bought it used, Ebay, about 10 or 11 years ago. It's ok. But heavy, bulky, no video, no fun lenses. I've been using a little Samsung point and shoot for about 4 years now. It's nice and small, but I want to get the pics I see and not settle for what the camera is capable of. I'll take the extra weight as the trade off. And the lighter wallet.

Nice!

I know what you mean about cameras. I got a used Olympus model about 3 years ago, same one Joe was using at the time, but lately I just don't want to carry it due to its bulk, so I've been using my phone. I want to get a Nikon Coolpix S7000 at some point, it's a smaller camera but has a 20X optical zoom. Just too lazy/cheap to make the purchase.

Very nice Kathy. Very jealous about the Gray Jay. We'd intended Webster yesterday but were F'ed by the weatherman for the 3rd day in a row. Great, jay photo.

So let me get this straight. Jackson gets a trip report immediately, but the other more interesting hikes (to me. and that's all I care about 8) ) still just get teased?!

Maybe we can get a bulk discount on the DSLR. Mine is all but dead, and my only PNS is a real POS.

I had LOTS more pics from Martha/Cherry/Owls Head and Flickr is painstakingly S-L-O-W!! But it's up now. I should dedicate that one to you pal. 8)

And yeah. Think if we tell Hunts we'll buy 3 or 4 DSLRs they'd go for that idea???
