Headed out solo Saturday morning. I had been up in the Carter area on Friday but just wasn't feelin' it so I mostly meandered along 19MBT,
took some pretty pics, enjoyed the solitude and sounds of silence - which with the moving water were pretty loud but still good for the soul.
Later I helped out a couple of thru-hikers with rides, fruit, home-baked banana bread so it worked out.

So broke camp early Sat a.m. and hit the Webster-Jackson trail earlier than I usually get to - boots on at 6:30.
Hoped to beat the crowds, get up, over, up and out before the masses.
And I did. What. A. Day. If I'd had a ride and more food I would have walked all the way to Washington.

Still, a great day and my new favorite route up my favorite peak when there is no snow cover.

starts off tame enough

Didn't even notice that hanging rock til I uploaded my pics. :D This at the 1st crossing. Piece o cake today.

Cannot explain my love of the bog bridges...

Saw the most people all day at the hut - five. Got to Pierce's summit and saw two more at the cairn.
Took a break, had a snack and then the trail got a bit more busy so I headed down Crawford.

A parting shot

What a great thing to do! I've often wanted to give hikers rides, but when we"re on vacation I have EVERYTHING crammed into a Corrolla - day packs, overnight packs, car camping tent, backpacking tent, you name it we cram it! And this past week it was all damp! We could probably accommodate one, with their pack on their lap...

I love bog bridges, too! Even the ones about to disintegrate!

I like the foam forming on the periphery of the rocks in that "hanging rock photo" Looks like another fantastic day up Kathy's Mountain.

This is a really cool picture, almost abstract. My eye just keeps looking all over the place. Good stuff.

Glad you enjoyed the hike. Seems like it's visit old friends week! :D And good on you for helping out the fellow hikers when you didn't feel up to much of your own. I saw a lot of thru hikers today (I think) and wished I had known ahead of time where I was going to end up hiking. I would have brought some trail magic along for them myself. :(
