 West Bond
The internet hates me.

I haven't written any trs lately b/c Flickr has been a hassle.

I finally get Flickr to work well enough to upload a few pics and write up a tr for my recent backpacking trip
to Guyot (well deserved being on our list btw) and West Bond and I get called away from the laptop for a few mins
and when I return and press submit I get a timed out message.

Argggghhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

Oh well. West Bond. We went in from Zealand Road on Monday. Spent Monday night at Guyot which was surprisingly busy
but quiet enough when we needed it to be. Got rewarded for all our hard work with an amazing, incredible, stunning sunset show from West Bond's summit -
which we had to ourselves for 95% of the time we were up there.

Image

Up and out early Tuesday morning in hopes of avoiding the forecasted heavy rains that would make the trails
a slippery, nasty, muddy mess.

We were welcomed back to Guyot's summit with this view on our exit.

Image

16.4 miles. 4,050 feet of elevation gain. 1 summit checkmark for my friend's anytime 48 list. 48,743,869 laughs. Life is good.

I assume the water source that was the subject of debate a little while back was running just fine? Probably ice cold as always.

West Bond rocks. And that sunrise shot!

Yes Matt. The water source was as it has always been - or at least in my ten plus years worth of experience there.
Ice cold for sure. SO good. Nectar from the Gods!
And I spent more time than planned watching the light play with the colors on Guyot's summit.

Well I can't give you crap for repeating this one. Many of the 48 aren't worth the time it takes to hike them as far as views and interesting trails go. The Bonds are not one of those. Sounds like a great time and looks like a great sunset. There must be more great pics from this trip for us!

Awesome pics Kathy. Thanks for the addendum. I wonder what's with the new Zealand sign? The old one was done and had character.

That's the sign for the spur, which was dead, dying, usually on the ground or tied with string to a stick, and falling apart. Afaik, the classic summit sign is still there.

Yeay for more pictures Kathy! Woo!

I like how "p.s. there is no view" is scribbled on the side of the sign  .

I could never get tired of West Bond and its view. Still would love to see a sunset/sunrise from that area!

Great pictures - that's one of my favorite places too. The first time I stayed at Guyot, the caretaker told me they had the best water in the Whites. I think he's right.
