Yet Another Route to G.W. 7/24/16
Picked Sunday again as the hike day since Saturday was another scorcher. But still was looking for cooler temps which means go big. I had one more trail I wanted to use for Washington so Washington it was. The trail I was looking to use was Lion Head. As I've said, I red-line when I can but I don't have any plan to complete the list.

So I wasn't sure how to work in something different with Lion Head. Ending up coming up with this for the route.

Tuckerman Ravine Tr. to Hermit Lake Cabin,
Then BoottSpur Link Tr. to Boott Spur Tr.,
Then Davis Path to Crawford Path to the Summit.

Heading down was going to be Tuckerman Ravine to Lion Head back to Tux. But at the summit there was a few dozen hikers and looked like, tourist heading down. I really did not want to deal with that. Then it came to me. Two years ago when Becky, Desi and I took the Cog up to hike the Alpine Garden, I accidentally took then up the Lion Head Tr. then back down Tux to get to the Tuckerman Crossover. Oops. But, this meant I didn't need that section of Lion Head. So I decided to head down Nelson Crag Tr., to Huntington Ravine Tr. to the Alpine Garden and over to Lion Head. I Remembered that in July there's Mountain Avens and Harebell blooming. Not as abundant as a few year ago though.

Take aways: Boott Spur Link is steep as hell and Lion Head is a knee buster descending. Other than that, great hike. Nice and cool and I was treated to pretty distant views and a partial under-cast. :D

Sunday was pretty spectacular up there and that looks like a great way to make the most of the weather. Rugged ascent and descent, but pretty awesome trails. I still need the BS Link for redlining. Safe to say with Cathedral Trail and these recently Robo-Joe is back and feeling just fine??

Great pics of the undercast. Last I heard, BSlink was looking for a trail adopter.

I thought this one was great. If I may:

Sunday was spectacular. A perfect day to be out and hike. HossInNH and I waved from across the Whites when George would peek out of the clouds (in the morning, of course later on it was fully clear). I didn't realize we saw Robo-Joe among those ants/people :)

I kind of liked the Boott Spur Link as a morning thing. Steep and some scrambles, but it gets to treeline fast and by the time the trail gets old, you are at the end (personal opinion, which would be far different if I was not tackling it on fresh legs). Of course then there is the obnoxious ascent the rest of the way to Boott Spur... ;)

WOW!!! Great undercast photos! Now if you could do all that, that means one hell of a recovery! Good for you!

I was wrong. Someone picked up Boott Spur link last year.
There are some good trails open for adoption.
