 Officially Finishing the 52WAV. 8) 5/14/16
This hike was inspired by GG and Gibba. Even though I knew the views form Hibbard were crap-a$$ at best,
I'd always planned to return to do the loop I'd done on a drizzly, foggy day. Their recent report reminded me
of this plan. And the title is a but of a lie, by my standards. Again, crappy views to start with, but West Royce,
and Square Ledge were pretty overcast but I did have something. Hibbard was totally socked in. As was Stinson
and Cardigan the first times. I was actually planning on hitting Square ledge as well but the climb up to
Wonalancet Hedgehog kicked my a$$. Man, there are some steep a$$ trails in that area. I think the climb I just
mentioned is something like 800' in .7 miles. I did add Mt Mexico and Big Rock Cave this time. Probably would
have headed over to Square Ledge had I not.

First stop was that pond in Chocorua along Rt. 16.

Once on trail, the flowers. More Red than Painted Trillium which is unusual. Onl saw one painted vs dozens of red.
And of coarse the Hobblebush.

Next, Big Rock Cave.

A great deal of huffing and puffing later, the view from Wonalancet Hedgehog.
Image

Then the wonderful Hibbard. I'm thinking Wonalancet Hedgehog should have been the 52WAV. :?

Here's there 2 locations.

Some Trout Lily on the way to Wonalancet.

Last of the views, the views ledges on Wonalancet.

Ending with a very short road walk back to the car. About as far as you can see on the road is where the lot
I parked in is.

Lots of trails, and a bunch of junctions. Had to pull out the map a lot on this one.

Oh, if you're wondering if I wished I'd done something with better views on such a gorgeous day,
The answer is yes. 8)

A week ago today we were on half of those trails. And some we did last fall. Beautiful photos, Joe, but my legs are aching just looking at them! Congrats on your finish. Ever think about going to your favorite Mtn from Ferncroft?

So, if I understand this, you had actual views from all 52?? They should actually make that a requirement. And it just says views, not blue sky views. You're standards are too high! :D These are surprisingly nice however, well, compared to what I thought they would look like from in the soup. Amazing how green things got in the last 10 days. Oh, almost forgot, the little flowers are forget-me-not's I believe.

Yes. And I'm pretty sure all but 2 did have blue skies. This is West Royce. Square Ledge was
slightly worse.

And yes again. If you didn't have any views, no it doesn't count. Why would it? :P

This why I may never finish this list - too many peaks on it that don't really have great views! But good for you that you finished it....I guess. 8)

Awesome job!! If it hasn't been asked yet, what was your favorite 52WV? Favorite hike and favorite view?

Exactly the same answer as for, which was my favorite. Just substitute "great" with "crappy". :P
