 Mount Cutler area Maine
Yesterday I joined an AMC group for a day of trail maintenance at Mount Cutler in Hiram ME. We parked at a small lot in downtown Hiram and then car pooled over to a small lot off of Hiram Hill Rd and walked a short distance along the tracks to the North Trail link.
Here we started our maintenance- sawing, trimming, and some ground clean up. We made our way up to the ridge and were treated to some awesome views down into the village of Hiram and beyond.
We walked along the ridge to a couple other viewpoints.
The Pleasant Mountain Range
We didn't go to the actual summit but instead went down a trail off from the ridge that eventually got us back to Hiram Hill Rd. This was a view to the west along the way
Looking east down towards the Saco River, I also captured one of the Maine State birds in this pic (the bugs were wicked as we say here)
An added bonus was that we had one of the landowners with us and he provided a great deal of information about history, etc.
On the way home I stopped along Rt 113 for this pic back up towards where we had been

Looks like a great hike. Maybe, just maybe, if the black flies are wicked there already then by Memorial Day weekend they'll be long gone. I'll be looking for something in this size range to hike with the kiddos. Looks like a good candidate.
