Does someone have a pic of the start of the firewardens trail? I seem to remember seeing a pic of a tree in the middle of the trail where the FWT splits off to the left. Any other useful tips to help find the start of the trail? Was it easy to find? This trail is on my to-do list, despite the summit. Thanks.

It's between the first and second river crossings on the north twin trail. Just stay along the east side of the river and follow the heard path that avoids the first two crossings till you reach the tree.

What he ^ said. I didn't pay attention to the "stay on the East side" part and thought we had to cross the river. Fortunately, it was a tough crossing so we continued along the East side looking for a safer spot. I knew about the tree and it is V-E-R-Y obvious. If you have your head down you will walk right into it. Scramble up the embankment for what, 3 meters or so and there you are.

Coincidentally...... 8)

FYI-Don't feel like going back to see if this was mentioned but the 1st and 2nd crossing bypass trail is a bootleg trail. You will not find it on a map.

I saw no cairn. But I did not go past the tree.

OOPS! My bad!!!!! Sorry Pirr.

no prob, dude.

:)

This looks like it was an excellent woods walk. I'm hoping J and I take ourselves up some higher peaks this summer. I'll be wrapping up my second job soon, which will allow a bit more time to be tired after hiking. ^.^

The birch glade reminds me of... Green Mountain? Where the fire tower is. There's a glade one goes through there if my memory is correct.

Water crossings are the best. Awesome report. :)
