Good stuff there! Do you remember me? I commented on one of your YouTube videos a while back, and you answered me back. I also subscribed to your channel. I really like your videos.

I've been curious about this as a small local hike, but I thought access to the public was restricted. The "New Hiking the Monadnock Region" guidebook states:

"Joe English Hill (1,240 ft.) is located on the tracking station property about 3 miles north of Joe English Reservation."

I was there 12/1 with my son and my dog. If you come at it from Summit Road/Cul-de-Sac/Beaver Pond, you don't ever cross onto the tracking station property. I will probably go back one day when the weather is nicer to see what I can see. There are Adirondack chairs and a raptor observation point so there must be some views.

Very nice, and it looks like you had an awesome day for views. I went to Joe English two years ago, but I was later informed on YouTube that I was trespassing on restricted land, and that armed guards patrolled the area, and that I would be personally escorted down the mountain if caught by them. Ever since then, I've come across the occasional trip report for this mountain and have wondered if the YouTuber who said that was BSing :? .

Anyway, when I went, it looked very much like it did in your video, sans the snow. I just didn't explore as much as you did.

Also, I literally live within walking distance of Mine Hill's upper base along route 121; it's about a mile from my house to that point. From my house to the beginning of the fire road up the hill (across from the lake), add another mile, and I would need a bike. Very easy to access, and there are decent views from the top on a clear, leafless day. Still have yet to find Devil's Den :? .

Keep 'em coming! BTW, have you done Jeremy Hill or Rock Rimmon in Danville? Both were home to fire towers.

I have done a lot of walking in Joe English Reservation lately and every time you come to the boundary with the tracking station, there are signs, like every 25-50 feet. There were no signs at all, except for the raptor observatory, anywhere on Joe English Hill IF you go up from Summit Road via the rock quarry.

Laurel Lane definite borders the tracking station to the west. That does not surprise me. There was a link I found once via Google that indicates in 2008 (I think) that they had completed a mitigation pass over the area to remove any remaining ordinance and that the area was open to hunters/anglers/hikers with a DoD card.

Thanks for the TR. Concerning Mine Hill, curious if you had any issues with the residence. PM if you prefer.
