11-05-06 Isolation FINAL NH48 PEAK woohoo
Date(s) Hiked: 11-5-06

Trails(s) Hiked: Rocky Branch, Isolation, Davis

Total Distance: 14.6

Difficulty: Ardous

Conditions: Very muddy and wet in places, deep snow near the Isolation/Davis junction.

Special Required Equipment: Nothing really…

Trip Report:

This was my FINAL NH48 PEAK! Hooray! Long and wet is a nice description of this hike. It was necessary to do some bushwhacking to avoid a few of the nastier crossings. Also I tried some bushwhacking near the Isolation-Davis junction which did not turn out so well. I did however fall through the snow to my waist at one point (that’s 4 feet of snow) It was not this deep everywhere but it was in a few spots. There were some sections along the trail which were 2 feet deep! Quite a sight to see in early November!

Way to go Marc.

And yes, those spruce traps can be a killer sometimes!

If you came around from the north spur, there is a tendancy for the snow to be wind blown into the bowl and creates some interesting stories trying to get through there to the summit.

Congrats on your 48....hoping to join the crowd very soon (2 left!)
Bill

Congratulations Marc!! I'm envious! All I need to do is drop this pesky job and maybe I'll finish too! :)

Whatever is next for you, make sure you're not rooting for the Canadiens!

You've done it. Finished them all! I hope you'll send the info to the AMC and get your scroll and a patch for your pack. Congratulations! Get a AMC 4000 t-shirt too. You've earned it!!

Please join us on some hikes.
