Date(s) Hiked: 10/29/06 Trails(s) Hiked: Starr King Trail Total Distance: 7.2 miles RT Difficulty: Moderate Conditions: lots of snow above 3000' 6-8" between S.K and Waumbek. Some places over a foot!!!!!!!!!!!!! Special Required Equipment: Boots and warm clothes! Stabilicers might be useful but I didn’t need them. Trip Report: This was a nice easy peak for the most part. Lots of hard icy snow above 3000' and a very well broken in trail. There were TONS of blow downs above 3700 some very hard to get around. Most of them recent, some VERY recent. My sights are set on MT Isolation for 11/5 Open invitation if anyone wants to join. Gonna start at 6-7am from Rte 16. By Technicality I need to do Tripyramids again (11/4) The story goes: Back before I even knew of the NH48 (in August!!) I biked Livermore road effectively knocking off 7 miles of very boring road hiking. When I posted that on another site a bunch of people yelled at me saying I broke the NH48 rules. I told them "wtf is NH48" and the rest is history.. Needless to say The Tripyramids need to be redone.. Something I am both looking forward to and not looking forward to at the same time! |
