On Washington (SUMMIT) for the night!
8pm on 8/19. Bob and Geri Hayes, Drewski, Sarah and myself all hiked up Huntington Ravine to the summit of Washington Today.

Funny thing... while in high school I made a book of dreams. Throughout the years I have been able to see almost all of my dreams come true.. and tonight.. one has.. I am sleeping in the Obs and typing this right now from the living area in the basement. We are all watching "48" and having a great time. And NIN says hi!

John, in a word "sweet!"

Hope you got to see many meteor showers from the Persids. You're hiking with the best of the best. Please send my regards to Drewski, Bob & Geri.

What a great feeling to have dreams come true. Wishing you and Sarah many more!

I always enjoy reading the daily log from the Obs along with some great photos especially of the spectacular sunsets.
SJ, do you have a link with photos we can check out?
Glad another dream came true!
Totally jealous,
Bill

Staying a night and even volunteering for a week at the Obs has been on my "life long to do list" ever since I first visited Washington. I'm glad to hear you got the chance John. I saw Bob and Geri's post and was most tempted to say YES until I checked my bank account, and my family weekend schedule... :(

Glad you had a great trip. We have to get together for a hike sometime.

We had a wonderful time on the summit with friends old and new. Thanks to Bob hayes for having us along. We enjoyed a magnificent hike up Huntingtons.. followed by a stormy day on the way down admiring the folks in soaked cotton shorts! :o

Hope to again one day call the Obs home for a night. It was a blast!

We are hoping to make this an annual event in order to watch the Bike Race. We are also looking at a Winter hike with an over night in the Observatory. Our friend Jim acted as trip leader so the cost of trip was the actual cost that the Observatroy get's, which is about half of what EMS, IME, or others charge.
