 Bald Eagle Event
Here's something nice coming up, the Merrimack River Eagle festival at Joppa Flats. This is at Mass Audubon, a place Cracky probably goes to several times a day! It's Feb 8th, next Saturday. This would be especially good for families (GG, Cracky, etc), nature photo guys (JustJoe,etc), and people with bad backs who love wildlife (you know who you are!). We, unfortunately, will probably not get out of work in time. But for those who can, check out massaudubon.org.

I won't be able to make it there I don't believe. My daughter wanted to play basketball so our Sat mornings are booked for a few more weeks.

I did download the map however and will try to check out some of those eagle hot spots myself sometime so thanks for the link.

This is always a great event. Thanks for sharing. I live on Lake Attitash in Amesbury and the eagles are already arriving. By early March there should be about a dozen hopping on the ice. They really do like this area.

It's worth coming down if you haven't had a chance to see the eagles up close. I'd recommend Lowell's Boat Shop on Main Street in Amesbury. They have the best vantage and smallest crowds.

Maybe 45 minutes? No more than an hour.

Hummmm? I might just go. The only problem is, my wife is so used to me being home, and now that I'm planning to go out more cause I'm feeling better, (because of walking more), that I promised her to stay home on weekends. You should have seen her face when I got home yesterday at 1pm. I thought someone in our family died! She said, I miss you being home. Image I felt like such a heal! But if I don't go out, I hurt sitting home. I wish she would come out with me.

Thanks for the inside info Cracky. I'm going to have to make the short trip down there next month when they arrive. I know you've mentioned and showed before what a hot spot the lake is for them. Any idea why?

The eagles scoop up an enormous fish from the Merrimack and either land in the safety of tall pines along the shore, or they land on the lake once the ice breaks open and gives them safe harbor. Lake Gardner in Amesbury is also pretty good, especially if the weather is a little unfavorable.
