What's up with all the spamming and pa-TROLLING lately, a bit weird.... Appears to be a few pseudo people floating about. :(

Yea we seem to have a "smart bot" here now - redfox1939 - apologies if not really a bot, but sure seems like it...

We keep trying to banish these people to the abyss but they keep popping up again
Chris has some new software coming soon to help combat the issue and we'll keep deleting
very sorry if it's become a distraction

This. You can't catch all the buggers. I was impressed with that one this morning, for a couple posts there I thought it was a legit person!

Ha, looks like several people were tricked by that one! They're generally easier to spot and our moderators do a wonderful job of blocking them quickly... thanks guys.

As for people posting to deliberately get a rise out of people, I try to just ignore them. It's just part of life on the internet, those people are bound to surface occasionally.

Semi-related guilty confession:

I love spam. Thin sliced and fried, crispy on the outside. . . ah!!! Mechanically separated chicken hasn't been so delightful since maybe ever?

Spam is awesome! :D fry it up with some cheese between 2 pieces of bread.....yum!. And I thought spam was "spiced ham", not chicken.

Like hot dogs and bologna, you don't really know what it is It's just what's ever leftover on the butcher's floor.
It's the "jelly" it's in that makes me queasy.

Getting back to the subject, it is Live Free or Die, and we try to keep it that way. Feel free to post on almost any subject but please don't trash your fellow members. No one is better than anyone else here, we all simply have the same interest of walking in the woods.

And although we delete spam posts, I have been able to score some sweet deals on golf gear this year.

oddly, I think we get an uptick of spam when stuff gets more active on the Flags on the 48 forum. Many times, it's the same username that appears on both boards.

Soooo I have another question. At the bottom of the Bulletin Board, it shows you what the most users were ever on line. Did anyone notice that on 6/6/12, there were like 654 people on line at that time? What the heck does that mean?? When on average there are 10-15 people (I assume some of those are spammers, but still) how do you get that many at once? (understand I am a techno idiot)

I think it means Hike-NH is about to have an IPO.

I would assume it was a mass spam attack that happened at that moment

Safe Assumption.

IPO? Probably not a safe assumption. :)
