 Rocky Branch Rescue
A few months back someone (IQuest? madMattD?) expressed interest in doing the Davis Path - Isolation-Rocky Branch -Davis Path loop.

We discussed that the trail was closed to all use by the WMNF due to Irene damage from Jericho Rd to Shelter 2.

Apparently a few days ago someone from Dover gave the loop a try, came down the (closed) part of the trail, ran into a spot that was too gnarly to get thru, bushwhacked around it - and got lost.

Fortunately, he was able to be found and hiked out.

He's being held liable for the wages of the rangers that went in to find him.

I haven't been in there myself since Irene. Apparently it really *is* a mess :(

You know, this reminds me that when I was on Stairs back in April I met a hiker who'd spent the night at shelter#1 and come up Stairs Col, and was planning to stay at shelter #2 that night after crossing Isolation and Davis. Then back down to his car on Jerico Rd. Wonder how he made out...
