 Antivirus software
I know why ask here. Because I can. My software is about to expire this month and was thinking of switching- any recommendations? I have Norton have used Macafee, but heard about AVG and have been recommended for Firefox but haven't tried it. What do you guys use and what do you like/prefer?

Check Newegg. they've had some deals on Norton lately (good reviews)
and they've been free after rebates.

I'll probably get slammed for this by the Microsoft haters, but I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials for over a year on my laptop, and I haven't had any viruses. It's free at Microsoft.com.

+1 on this. I've actually seen a lot of positive comments on it (even by non-MS lovers), which is unusual for Microsoft stuff. I use it and like it, pretty unobtrusive as anti viruses go.

I've been using macafee forever. But once I let the updates lapse - had a problem - downloaded stopzilla and that fixed it.

If you have Comcast, they offer Norton for free. If you don't, I would say the free version AVG is good. I have no experience with the Microsoft tools.

 Re: Antivirus software
If you are installing AVG free now. Just watch out. It will try to get you to install some of their other software that "tunes up" your PC or some junk. It's just more stuff to load up when your PC boots and will thus make your PC boot more slowly and eat up RAM for whatever little good it will do.

MSE is no longer nearly as good as it once was. I personally still use AVG free. I just watch out for the installation of other of their software packages.
